Thermo Scientific Orion 8272BN PerpHect ROSS Sure Flow pH Electrode, 0 to 14 pH, with BNC Connector and 1m Cable Review

Thermo Scientific Orion 8272BN PerpHect ROSS Sure Flow pH Electrode, 0 to 14 pH, with BNC Connector and 1m Cable Feature

  • Combination, refillable electrode with glass body for use in high temperatures and corrosives
  • Free-flowing junction for use with dirty and viscous samples
  • Measures temperature without a separate ATC probe
  • BNC connection with 1 m cable for reaching samples
  • pH range is 0 to 14

The Thermo Scientific Orion 8272BN PerpHect ROSS refillable, combination pH electrode has a glass body, a free-flowing junction for use with dirty and viscous samples, and measures temperature without a separate ATC probe (LogR technology). The ROSS electrode has a Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connection with a 1 m (39") cable for reaching samples, and a 0 to 14 pH range. LogR technology allows the user to make temperature-compensated pH measurements without using an automatic temperature compensation (ATC) probe. The unique double-junction reference system separates the sample from contact with silver ions, which means the electrode can be used with samples containing silver complexing or binding agents, such as tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane (TRIS or THAM), proteins, and sulfides. The electrode has a small hole, for refilling the the KCl fill solution, which prolongs the life of the electrode, and can be used on any pH meter with a BNC or U.S. standard connection. ROSS pH electrodes also have a patented internal reference to mimimize drift and equilibrium time. Glass body electrodes are useful in highly corrosive environments where epoxy could be corroded, or around proteins and other compounds with high surface tension. This electrode's free-flow junction allows testing of dirty and viscous samples. The junction can be cleaned by pressing the cap down between measurements, which allows the filling solution to flow through the junction and clear contaminants.

pH range is 0 to 14 (+ or - 0.03 at pH 4,7, and 10), temperature range is 0 to 100 degrees C (+ or - 0.5), with 92 to 102% slope. Body dimensions are 120 mm (length) x 12 mm (diameter), and the electrode can measure samples as small as 0.2 mL. The electrode uses 3M KCl Orion 810007 fill solution. Buffer and storage solutions are sold separately.

pH electrodes are used in pH meters and testers to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. They are often constructed of glass, which senses hydrogen ions, and generates a millivoltage that is picked up by the filling solution and transferred to a wire that connects to the pH meter.
