Thermo Scientific Orion 8175BNWP ROSS Sure Flow Junction pH Electrode, 0 to 14 pH, with BNC Connector Review

Thermo Scientific Orion 8175BNWP ROSS Sure Flow Junction pH Electrode, 0 to 14 pH, with BNC Connector Feature

  • Combination electrode with epoxy body for durability and use with aqueous solutions
  • Free-flowing junction for use with dirty and viscous samples
  • Designed to allow the user to change the fill solution, depending on the sample requirements
  • Semi-micro tip for use with small samples
  • pH range of 0 to 14

The Thermo Scientific Orion 8175BNWP ROSS Sure-Flow combination pH electrode has an epoxy body for durability, a semi-micro tip, a free-flow junction for use with dirty and viscous samples, and allows the user to change the fill solution. The Orion 8175BNWP electrodes have a waterproof Bayonet Neill-Concelman (BNC) connection with a 1 m (39") cable, and can be used on any pH meter with a BNC or U.S. standard connection. The electrodes are designed to allow the user to change the fill solution, depending on the sample requirements. They also have a patented internal reference to mimimize drift and equilibrium time. This electrode is often used for testing water samples; it can be used in test tubes, and with dirty and viscous samples because of the free-flow junction. The junction can be cleaned by pressing down the cap between measurements, which allows the filling solution to flow through the junction and clear contaminants.

pH range is 0 to 14, temperature range is 0 to 100 degrees C and body dimensions are 165 mm long x 6 mm deep. (The 6 mm section is 95 mm long.) The electrode has a 16 mm diameter cap, and uses 3M KCl fill solution. Buffer and storage solutions are sold separately.

pH electrodes are used for measuring the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. They are often constructed of glass, which senses hydrogen ions, and generates a millivoltage that is picked up by the filling solution and transferred to a wire that connects to the pH meter.

Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures analytical instruments, laboratory equipment, consumables, and software under the Thermo Scientific and Fisher Scientific brands, among others. The company was founded in 2006 and is headquartered in Waltham, MA.
