  • Free-flowing junction for use with dirty and viscous samples
  • Designed to allow the user to change the fill solution, depending on the sample requirements
  • Temperature range of 0 to 100 degrees C for obtaining results across a wide range
  • pH range of 0 to 14

The Thermo Scientific Orion 8165DN ROSS Sure-Flow double-junction, combination pH electrode has an epoxy body for durability, a free-flow junction for use with dirty and viscous samples, a waterproof E DIN connection, and allows the user to change the fill solution. The double-junction reference system does not contain silver or mercury, and separates the sample from contact with silver ions, which prolongs electrode life and allows electrode use with samples containing silver complexing or binding agents such as tris (hydroxymethyl) aminomethane (TRIS or THAM), proteins, and sulfides. The 8165DN electrode is designed to allow the user to change the fill solution, depending on the sample requirements. The electrode has a waterproof E DIN connection with a 1 m (39") cable, and a patented internal reference to mimimize drift and equilibrium time. This electrode has a free-flow junction, which makes it a good choice to test dirty and viscous samples. The junction can be cleaned by pressing the cap down between measurements, which allows the filling solution to flow through the junction and clear contaminants.

pH range is 0 to 14 (+ or - 0.01), temperature range is 0 to 100 degrees C, and body dimensions are 120 mm (length) x 12 mm (diameter). The electrode has a 16 mm diameter cap, and uses 3M KCl 810007 fill solution. Buffer and storage solutions are sold separately.

pH electrodes are used in pH meters and testers to measure the acidity or alkalinity of a substance. They are often constructed of glass, which senses hydrogen ions, and generates a millivoltage that is picked up by the filling solution and transferred to a wire that connects to the pH meter.

Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures analytical instruments, laboratory equipment, consumables, and software under the Thermo Scientific and Fisher Scientific brands, among others. The company was founded in 2006, and is headquartered in Waltham, MA.
